Cantor Prosthetic and Nissel Custom soft contact lenses can be worn for up to a year (12 months) if worn daily. However, lens replacement should be recommended by your Eye Care Professional for your individual needs.
How should I take care of my lens?
Cleaning and using your contact lenses properly will help keep your eyes healthy and free from infections. Contact lenses have to be disinfected with contact lens solution every day to prevent infections. Your contact lens prescriber will tell you how to do this. To look after your reusable contact lenses safely:
- Clean your lenses after you take them out by rubbing them with your contact lens solution
- Rinse your lenses with contact lens solution after cleaning them
- Leave them in the disinfecting solution overnight
- Never reuse disinfecting solution or top it up – throw it away and use fresh solution every time
- Only use the solution recommended by your contact lens practitioner, and follow the instructions carefully
- Follow your practitioner’s instructions for cleaning your storage case (do NOT use tap water)
- Replace your lens case at least once a month
- Never decant your solution into smaller travel-size bottles
What solutions do you recommend?
- for Cantor Prosthetic lenses we recommend the use of OPTI-FREE® PureMoist Solution by Alcon

- for Nissel Custom lenses we recommend the use of CLEAR CARE® Cleaning & Disinfecting Solution by Alcon

How should I take photos of my patient’s eyes?
Photos, taken in natural light, 6-12 inches from the eye, NOT zoomed in, with a camera are helpful. We need clean, clear images that are sharp and focused. No Slit lamp photos, please. Take a look at this PHOTO CHECKLIST for your visual guidance, and refer to our Photo/Image Guide FAQs list below it.

Photo/Image Guide FAQs
Our lenses will only be as accurate as the images we receive!
WHAT DOES MEDCORP REQUIRE? Obviously, we can’t match a lens without a photographic image. However, the quality of the image will determine the overall quality of our finished lens.
I HAVE A SAMPLE – LENS CAN I USE THAT? If your patient has had a lens previously, we can use that to help making a new lens. The lens would need to be sent to our offices along with your order.
HOW FAR AWAY SHOULD THE PHOTOGRAPH BE TAKEN? Ideally the image should be taken between 6 & 12 inches away. A close image is not always best, please make sure the image is in focus.
DO YOU REQUIRE BOTH EYES IN THE PHOTOGRAPH? Yes. we will require both eyes so that a good match can be made, taking both eyes into consideration.
WHY DO YOU NEED A PIECE OF WHITE PAPER HELD AGAINST THE FOREHEAD? Our artists will require a base point to start from, using a piece of white paper will enable them to adjust the image to get a better colour match.
WHAT KIND OF LIGHTING DO YOU NEED THE PICTURE TO BE TAKEN IN? The picture is best taken with as much natural light as possible making sure not to have the light source behind the subject.
WHAT DO YOU DO IF THE COLOR OF THE LENS YOU RECEIVED IS WRONG? Although we make every effort to make sure the lens is correct first time, there are factors which may make the lens look different from the good eye. By sending us a new photograph with the lens on eye and the good eye in the same image, we can make any adjustments to correct the color.
We prefer that images be sent with an email in Jpeg (JPG) format rather than printed and sent by post. Images that cannot be used to reproduce a lens will be returned for improvement.
